Year-long weekly Classwork log

The first class was on August 16, 2019, where we introduced the class to debate with icebreakers and games. Since then, the students have learned a lot about the activity. The knowledge they have gained applies to more than just speech-and-debate, but also for their general argumentative knowledge they can apply in day-to-day life as well as in essays in middle school and high school. So far, they have learned how to present their contentions with a structured format (claim, warrant impact), how to speak in front of people they have not met before, how to respond to arguments and specific techniques to use, how to give speeches on the spot, and most importantly, how to be confident in whatever they present. For the first few months of the new year, they will gain a larger exposure to how high-school debate works and they will finally have a chance to show what they know in a proper debate round.
